David Savran

David Savran is a specialist in twentieth and twenty-first century U.S. and German theatre, transnational musical theatre, and social theory. His most recent book is Highbrow/Lowdown: Theater, Jazz, and the Making of the New Middle Class, the winner of the Joe A. Callaway Prize and the Kurt Weill Award. He is the Vera Mowry Roberts Distinguished Professor of Theatre at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and this year, he is a fellow at the International Research Center “Interweaving Performance Cultures” at the Freie Universität Berlin.
